The Mountains of Molenkamp and Speirs at Linda Hodges Gallery
The mountains delight us daily in Seattle, but some artists are especially inspired and see them in wildly different ways. Ryan Molenkamp renders them in bright, striated, acrylic patchworks, sometimes spewing pillowy columns of smoke. Cheerfully ominous. Meanwhile, Kentree Speirs sees them surging out of pale clouds and painterly splashes of rich, oily colors. Ominously beautiful. Across from each other at Linda Hodges, these painters will show quite a range . . . or cordillera, as it were.
